Northeast Work & Safety Boats provides reliable marine access, safety boat, and specialty vessel support for bridge inspection, construction, utility, and waterfront projects throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Our crews and equipment are mobilized to solve one core problem: how to safely and efficiently get people, tools, and platforms to work over and around water.
We support engineers, contractors, public agencies, and industrial owners who need experienced operators, purpose-built vessels, and a partner who understands the realities of working on live infrastructure, active waterways, and tight schedules.
What We Do
Our work focuses on practical, field-proven marine support services, including:
- Safety Boat Services for bridge inspection, over-water construction, diving, and inspection teams
- Inspection & Crew Boats configured for stability, access, and transport in confined or high-traffic waterways
- Aerial & Over-Water Access Support using boom-style and specialty access platforms
- Bridge & Marine Construction Support, including personnel transfer, equipment positioning, and on-water coordination
- Specialty Marine Support for non-standard access, temporary works, and complex jobsite conditions
Rather than simply renting equipment, we deliver operated services – vessels, licensed crews, and job-specific planning – so projects can move forward safely and efficiently.
How We Work
Marine work rarely follows a template. Water conditions, clearance constraints, traffic, tides, and live infrastructure all influence how a job must be executed. Our approach is built around:
- Early coordination with engineers, site supervisors, and safety managers
- Job-specific vessel selection and configuration
- Licensed, experienced operators familiar with bridge, utility, and industrial environments
- Responsive mobilization to meet inspection windows, shutdowns, and weather-driven schedules
We are often brought in to support projects where land-based access is limited, impractical, or unsafe. We know that failure to plan marine operations correctly can cause delays or safety risks.
Experience You Can Rely On
Our team brings decades of combined experience supporting bridge inspections, rehabilitation projects, power and utility work, waterfront construction, and specialty access operations. We understand the expectations of DOTs, engineering firms, and major contractors—and we know how to operate professionally within active job sites.
From short-duration inspection support to multi-phase construction projects, our focus remains the same: safe execution, clear communication, and dependable performance on the water.
A Moment That Changed Everything
The year was 1987 and it was at a DOT project for the replacement of the RT 140 Bridge in Windsor Locks over the Connecticut River. Joe Casey received accolades for his heroic rescue of two CT DOT employees.
This jump-started Jack & Joe Casey to start a marine rescue company called Main Stream Water Safety Services, LLC.

Jack & Joe’s first project was the George Tomasso Construction Company at the Founders Bridge, RT 2 in Hartford, CT.
From One Rescue to a Mission
That incident became the catalyst for building a company centered on preparedness, capability, and responsibility on the water. The question was simple but powerful:
If the right boat, crew, and mindset could make that much difference in a single moment, why shouldn’t that level of readiness exist on every over-water job site?
Northeast Work & Safety Boats was founded with the belief that marine operations – especially those around bridges, infrastructure, and industrial sites – require more than just vessels. They require trained operators, situational awareness, and a safety-first approach rooted in real experience.
Joining the CIG Family
In June 2021, Northeast Work & Safety Boats was acquired by Capital Infrastructure Group Inc. (CIG), marking CIG’s first entry into the U.S. market and expanding Northeast’s ability to serve complex infrastructure clients with deeper resources and broader service integration. Today, the Casey family remains actively involved, and our mission continues with renewed scale and stability.
Safety, Compliance, and Accountability
Safety is not a tagline—it is a requirement for working in complex marine environments. Our operations are supported by:
- Licensed captains and trained marine crews
- Documented safety procedures and job hazard awareness
- Insurance and compliance aligned with public and private project requirements
We work closely with project safety officers and inspectors to ensure our marine operations integrate smoothly with overall site safety plans.
